INDIANAPOLIS, Dec. 13 (UPI) -- Quinn Buckner was hired Friday as a special consultant to Indiana Pacers president Donnie Walsh.
Buckner, 48, will work with Walsh on strategic basketball projects. He also will continue in his current role as analyst for Pacers' games on Fox Sports Net.
"I think Quinn Buckner is a tremendous resource for the franchise and has a great network of knowledge, not only in the NBA, but on all levels of basketball throughout the world," Walsh said. "I think he'll be very valuable to the franchise."
An Indiana graduate, Buckner was the point guard on the Hoosiers' unbeaten 1976 title team. In the NBA, he played for Milwaukee, Boston and Indiana and coached Dallas.
Buckner also has served in several capacities for USA Basketball.
