ETHIOPIA: Safe water - a glass half full

ADDIS ABABA, 27 June 2012 (IRIN) - More than half of all Ethiopians
have access to an improved source of drinking water, but the country
still has much work to do if it hopes to achieve its goal of providing
access to safe water and sanitation for its 83 million people by 2015,
experts say.

SOMALIA: Call for aid scale-up following poor rains

NAIROBI, 27 June 2012 (IRIN) - Humanitarian aid to Somalia, where 3.4
million people are expected to continue to need food and non-food
support for the next six months, should be scaled up particularly in
south-central agro-pastoral areas following poor March-May `Gu' rains,
say aid agencies.
