WASHINGTON, Feb. 21 (UPI) -- In the three years since President Obama began the White House’s online petition program, the only one that has received more signatures than "Deport Justin Bieber" is a public request to declare the Westboro Baptist Church a hate group.

According to the Washington Times, Roger Skrzynski II created the petition as a “way to expose problems with the petition website.”

The petition currently has more than 261,000 signatures.

“I’ve been actually waiting for something to come along that I could put on there because I really don’t like the website itself. It’s too open to foreign signatures. It’s a way for people in foreign countries to petition our government,” Skrzynski told the Washington Times. “I kind of wanted to put a joke on there to maybe get the White House’s attention. Maybe they could fix it.”

Because the petition reached 100,000 signatures, the White House is officially required to respond. “Every petition that crosses the threshold will be reviewed and receive a response. Response times vary based on a number of factors including issue area and total volume of petitions,” said spokesman Matt Lehrich.

“I feel like I finally brought America together on an issue for once,” said Skrzynski, 24.

In response to “Deport Justin Bieber and revoke his green card,” at least four petitions supporting the Canadian pop star have been created.
