LOWELL, Mass., Feb. 19 (UPI) -- A 79-year-old Massachusetts woman reportedly pulled a gun on a man who shoveled her driveway on Tuesday without asking and then knocked on her door to demand cash.

The woman told the man to go away and shut the door in his face. The man continued knocking on the door and the woman allegedly came back holding a gun.

"She feared he was going to break in so she opened the door again with the firearm at her side," Capt. Thomas Meehan told the Lowell Sun. "She never pointed it, but she said 'get off my property. I'm going to call the police.' He decided to leave.”

According to Meehan, the woman has a permit for the weapon and she did not violate any laws.

The unidentified shoveler talked to a neighbor as he was leaving. “The woman pulled a .38 or a revolver and told him to get the hell out,” the neighbor said.

A WBZ NewsRadio reporter attempted to speak to the woman on Wednesday. “She asked Mr. Stevens to leave her alone, a request to which he obliged,” the station reported.
