NEW ORLEANS, Feb. 18 (UPI) -- Over the weekend during an interview at the NBA All Star Game in New Orleans, Nike designer Tinker Hatfield indicated his company would be releasing self-lacing shoes sometime in 2015.

During an appearance at the Jordan Brand's Flight Lab, Hatfield was asked about the chance of seeing power-laces next year, according to Sole Collector. "Are we gonna see power laces in 2015? To that, I say YES!" Hatfield said.

Michael J. Fox had a pair of self-lacing shoes when he played Marry McFly in the 1989 movie Back to the Future Part II. The film was set in 2015 and the shoes were called Air Mags.

In 2011, Nike auctioned off 1,500 pairs of Air Mag sneakers on eBay with the proceeds going to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
