Man who mailed cat poo to companies that wouldn't hire him gets probation

ST. LOUIS, Feb. 7 (UPI) -- There’s more than one way to skin a cat, and there’s also more than one way to react after not getting hired for a job.

A St. Louis man certainly came up with a unique one.

After getting turned down by a number of companies, 58-year-old Jevons Brown started packaging cat poop and mailing it to employees of businesses that didn’t hire him.

Brown, a veteran, received two years of probation on Friday after pleading guilty in August to a misdemeanor charge of mailing injurious articles.

“This is not a victimless crime,” Assistant U.S. Attorney John Bodenhausen said in court on Friday

U.S. Postal Inspection Service spokesperson Dan Taylor told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that investigators tracked 20 packages containing cat feces to Brown.

Brown recently found a job and has almost nothing on his criminal record so Sean Vicente, Brown's public defender, and Bodenhausen agreed that probation was appropriate. By law, Brown could have received up to six months in prison.

“I'm sorry. This will never happen again,” Brown said in court.
