Petition calling for deportation of Justin Bieber has more than 70,000 signatures

WASHINGTON, Jan. 28 (UPI) -- A petition filed on the White House's website calling for the deportation of Canadian pop star Justin Bieber following his arrest in Miami last week has already gotten more than 70,000 signatures.

If the petition collects about 29,000 more signatures by Feb. 22, it will reach the 100,000 that are needed for an official government response. The petition was posted last Thursday, the same day Bieber was arrested.

“We the people of the United States feel that we are being wrongly represented in the world of pop culture. We would like to see the dangerous, reckless, destructive, and drug abusing, Justin Bieber deported and his green card revoked,” the petition reads. “He is not only threatening the safety of our people but he is also a terrible influence on our nations youth. We the people would like to remove Justin Bieber from our society.”

The petition was created by someone from Detroit with the initials J.A.

Bieber is set to be arraigned on charges of DUI, resisting arrest and driving with an expired license on Valentine's Day. It is not clear if the 19-year-old star will attend the proceedings.
