A man from Watford, identified only as David, woke up on Sunday morning and found a note from “Cagney and Lacey.” For those not up on their ‘80s television, those names are the title of a series about female New York detectives.
The officers discovered David too drunk to stand around 2 a.m. on Sunday.
“We found you staggering in the road on your way home from Watford. You were so drunk we were worried you wouldn’t get home in one piece! So we gave you a lift home. Please don’t get that drunk again.”
Will the real Cagney and Lacey please stand up?

After the message made its way onto social media via the UK Cop Humor page on Facebook, the official Hertfordshire Police Twitter account retweeted the request for the real Cagney and Lacey to “please stand up.”
A spokesman for Hertfordshire Police said the department was aware of the letter, but declined to officially comment on the situation.
