New Zealand baker sends chocolate poop cake to customer's engagement party

A New Zealand baker who sent a chocolate “poo” log cake and an "Eat [expletive]" card to an engagement party isn’t apologizing after people are calling her actions foul.

The owner of Oh Cakes in Invercargill, Emma McDonald, sent the offensive cake to the engagement party of 24-year-old Micaela Harris following a dispute about scheduling and money with the client who placed the order.

According to McDonald, she reduced a $50 voucher the customer had won for a cake down to $30 because the customer owed her $20.

After the offensive cake was picked up, McDonald posted about it on Facebook.

"Your left with a $30 voucher and you want a cake still?? ok cool - give me some ideas?? oh wait you have none apart from wanting chocolate. I have a brilliant idea for your cake!!! - so here it is, your turd cake! Hope you learn your lesson."

Invercargill Mayor Tim Shadbolt wasn’t pleased with the incident. "I think this must have been done with humor, but sometimes humor can go terribly wrong," he said.

"People expect any business to treat its clients with respect," said Invercargill Chamber of Commerce president Sean Woodward. "The cakemaker should have stopped and taken a breath or even gone on a holiday before doing this. What on earth was she thinking?"

McDonald isn’t sorry for the special cake.

"I have no regrets at all about what I did. I feel she got what she deserved," she told the New Zealand Herald. "I don't make cakes as a business. It is just a hobby and I'm taking it all with good humor."

Harris was forced to order a new cake from another baker.

"The cake was for an engagement party and this woman is not remorseful at all, which is disappointing," said one of Harris’ family members. "It was wrapped up in a box, so it was done deliberately as a nasty surprise. It was a disgraceful thing to do."
