A Florida man who was captured on in-home surveillance cameras having sex with his “family pet” has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty and sexual acts involving animals.

The dog’s owner said that her pet has been limping noticeably and that the pup has been showing signs of fear when approached by Werbicki and family members. She set up the surveillance cameras to investigate.

Palm Bay police arrested 22-year-old Joshua Lee Werbicki at the Papa John’s restaurant where he works and accused him of repeatedly having sex with his roommate’s German shepherd mix.

According to Brevard County Animal Services Sgt. Michael Healy, the dog will remain in the roommate’s custody until police conclude their investigation into the matter.

Werbicki lives at the home where the crime occurred but it’s possible that he will be banned from living with animals in the future.

Cruelty to animals is a felony crime and sex with animals is a misdemeanor offense. Werbicki was held on a $2,500 bond.
