Although he has never helped out with Duck Dynasty, Douglas County Sheriff Phil Miller has assisted A&E with filming a half-dozen other shows including episodes of Beyond Scared Straight.
“I don’t choose to do business with them as sheriff…They’re not coming into my jail,” Miller said. “If you can’t speak about what’s in the Bible, that’s wrong.”
Miller agrees with Robertson’s assertion that the Bible sees homosexuality as a sin, but said he doesn’t want to disparage homosexuals.
“That’s what makes this country. There’s a lot of different beliefs,” he said. “If that’s the kind of lifestyle they chose, that’s America. I’m not judging anyone.”
He did defend Robertson’s statements. “It was about a man stating his Christian beliefs without malice or judgment, and losing his job. That’s wrong,” Miller said.
The only aid that A&E might receive from Miller in the future is some help with traffic control. “I’d assist them, but they would have to pay the officers,” he said.
