Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe Dec. 10 (UPI) -- A Florida father who was at a courthouse on Monday to attend the arraignment of a DUI suspect who allegedly killed his son in a June 2011 accident was charged with two counts of battery after he allegedly attacked the suspect and his friend inside a bathroom. John Powers, 54, was bloodied as he left the bathroom following the alleged attack by 56-year-old Juan Gonzalez. Powers’ friend, Jay Israel, was also attacked in the bathroom. Advertisement After Powers told Broward Circuit Judge Marc Gold what had happened, Gonzalez was charged with dual misdemeanors each punishable by up to a year in jail. "You killed my son," Gonzalez reportedly said. "I will be watching you." According to court records, he was previously arrested in 2006 and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, leaving the scene of an accident and reckless driving. Gonzalez did not contest the charges and was sentenced to three years of probation.
