Phipp won the Alabama Education Association’s Iron Bowl contest, and will be travailing to see Alabama face off against Auburn with his mom, dad and brother. More than 74,000 students from 728 schools participated in the reading competition. “Each child had to read six books, age-appropriate books, to enter the contest. Then they had to choose what team the wanted to read for. They had to choose between Alabama or Auburn,” said Amy Marlowe, spokesperson for the Alabama Education Association. Phipps will be rooting for Auburn. Undefeated No. 1 Alabama will travel to take on No. 4 Auburn on Saturday at 3:30.
