Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Pope Francis let a group of young people visiting the Vatican on Wednesday get a selfie with him.

The photo was taken inside St. Peter's Basilica with a group from the Italian Diocese of Piacenza and Bobbio, who came to Rome for a pilgrimage.

The pope is catching on to the selfie trend, following stars like Justin Bieber, Madonna and Rihanna posting them on their Instagram accounts.

By Thursday, he has still not posted the photo to his Twitter page. The mystery of faith.

The self-portrait phenomenon was picked up this week by the historically conservative Oxford English Dictionary for its online edition, as it added "selfie," "twerk," "buzzworthy" and "squee."
