Oh thank heaven, it's July 11 -- Free Slurpee Day -- which means it's time again for convenience-store chain 7 Eleven to celebrate its matching date.

As usual, the chain celebrates its sort-of birthday by giving away a free Slurpee to every customer all day.

The Slurpee has been the signature 7-Eleven treat since it bought rights to ICEE machines in the 1960s. Of all of 7-Eleven’s locations, residents of Manitoba, Canada, purchase the highest number of Slurpees despite cold weather.

This year, 7-Eleven is doing it bigger. For previous Free Slurpee Days, they had fun-size Slurpees -- just 7.11 ounces. This time around, they come in the standard 12-ounce small.

The move to upsize came after mothers complained about the wee Slurpees not having lids. It's a lot more Slurpee to give away, too, as the company expects to give away 7 million Slurpees today.

The company won't lose money, though. Last Free Slurpee Day, sales in stores worldwide jumped 38 percent.

The giveaway runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, or until cups run out. The company has set up a store locator for the occasion.
