Twinkies back on shelves July 15

Bakery company Hostess Brands LLC is emerging from its second bankruptcy proceeding in four years, and will resume selling its iconic snack cake, the Twinkie, nationwide in the U.S.

The Hostess website says "the greatest treats the world has ever known will triumphantly return," on July 15. Other products include Ding Dongs and Ho Hos.

Hostess liquidated its brands, recipes, plants and other assets after failing to reach an agreement with striking bakers to help the company emerge from its latest bankruptcy.

Hostess, founded in 1930, is now owned by Apollo Global Management LLC and C. Dean Metropoulos & Co., whose combined offer of up to $410 million was the only one submitted during the bankruptcy process in March.

Company Chief Executive C. Dean Metropoulos said employees will not be union workers this time around. "We're not going to invite the unions in. We don't have to do it," he said.

But some things should stay the same, namely the snack-cakes' flavor. "Everything will be as delicious and fattening as it always was," said Michael Crame, executive vice president of the new company.
