Cristina Torre, the 44-year-old daughter of baseball's legendary Joe Torre, made an all-important catch on Wednesday, saving the life of a one-year-old infant.

Torre was apparently walking along the street when she saw Dillon Miller dangling from the awning above a frozen yoghurt shop.

The New York Daily News described the scene:

Suddenly, the child dropped — but he landed safely in Torre’s outstretched arms, the sources and witnesses said.

“The woman caught the baby,” said Kristen Bramsen, 48. “The baby was shaken. Everyone was going up to the woman and hugging her. I hugged her.”

Witnesses said no one had any idea who the baby's parent's were.

“The child was screaming, crying, and they were attending the child, and they were, like, panicking because they didn’t know who the child belonged to,” a man told CBS New York. “So then a lady said the child belongs to one of the people who live in that apartment.”

Authorities said the baby crawled though the window of his family's second-floor apartment onto the awning. His parents -- Sam Miller, 23, and Tiffany Demetria, 24 -- have been arrested for child endangerment.
