May 8 (UPI) -- A shocked British Columbia woman captured video of teens climbing over -- and under -- a freight train seconds before it started to move.

Kelly Fredrick said she looked out from her window when she heard bells Sunday in Fort Langley and saw teenagers climbing between the cars of a stopped freight train.

Fredrick recorded video as the teenagers climbed over the train and, in some cases, under it.

The train starts to move just moments after two teens emerge from under the train.

"It was a very dangerous situation," Fredrick told CTV Vancouver. "If that was my child and they were putting themselves in [harm's way] I would be heartbroken."

Sarah Mayes, national director of Operation Lifesaver, a safety group that aims to educate the public about railway dangers, agreed the stunt could have been deadly.

"Climbing over stopped trains or other rail equipment is just a bad idea," Mayes said. "As you can see in the video, trains can start moving at any time."

She said the teens could have also been in danger from a second set of tracks at the crossing.

"A train could have easily appeared on the second track and obviously the consequences would have been very tragic. The kids in this video were very lucky that they weren't injured -- or worse," she said.
