Aug. 30 (UPI) -- A Maryland woman is celebrating her $50,000 Powerball prize -- 10 years after she won a $250,000 lottery jackpot.

The 59-year-old Towson woman, whose name was not released, told Maryland Lottery officials she purchased the Powerball ticket for the Aug. 12 drawing, but initially did not realize she had won a cash prize.

"I had the ticket in the bottom of my purse," she said. "I pulled it out when I cleaned a few things out of there and when I checked it at the scanner it said, 'Cash at Lottery.' I didn't know what that meant."

The woman visited lottery headquarters Aug. 25 and learned exactly what it meant -- a $50,000 prize.

"This is going to let me exhale about bills I have due," she said. "It's such a gift to not have to worry so much."

The winner said this is the second time her luck has struck big -- 10 years ago she won a $250,000 jackpot and used the money to fulfill her dream of opening her own business. She said she has continued to play the lotto ever since.

"I probably buy 20 tickets a year," she said. "I'll spend $3 and get a Powerball ticket and one for Mega Millions."
