Alpha rooster kills, eats deadly cobra outside owner's home

Aug. 30 (UPI) -- A rooster in an Indian village showed its dominance by facing off against a venomous cobra and turning the deadly snake into a meal.

A video recorded outside the rooster's owner's home in Andhra Pradesh shows the rooster pecking at the cobra, which attempts to flee.

The rooster makes quick work of the venomous snake before eating it.

Locals said chickens are often seen eating small snakes, but it was highly unusual for the rooster to kill even a young and small cobra.

The rooster's owners said they tried to break up the confrontation because they were afraid the cobra would kill the rooster, but their fears turned out to be unfounded.
