Aug. 17 (UPI) -- A curious kitten took a lengthy trip in Long Island after finding itself trapped inside the body of a car.

Kent Animal shelter shared a photo of the tiny kitten that traveled 90 miles from Port Jefferson to East Hampton and back before the driver heard meows coming from underneath the vehicle.

"The good Samaritan tried to rescue the kitten but was unable to free him," the shelter said. "He decided the only thing to do was to take the car to Honda where they literally took the car apart to get the kitten out."

Once the kitten was removed from the car it was affectionately given the name "Honda" and taken to Kent Animal Shelter.

"None the worse for wear, Honda emerged hungry but unscathed and is now thriving at the Kent Animal Shelter," the shelter said.
