Alligator found swimming in New Jersey motel pool

Aug. 15 (UPI) -- A small wayward alligator stopped by for a quick swim at the bottom of a New Jersey motel pool.

Atlantic City police shared a photo of the small gator resting at the bottom of a motel pool on Tuesday morning.

"We get requests and try to fulfill them," police said. "A picture of our new pet alligator. He/she will be safely removed."

Animal control arrived at about 10 a.m. and carefully lifted the 3-foot gator out of the Bayview Inn & Suites pool.

Police were not sure where the alligator came from or how it found itself inside the pool, but noted the motel is just a few hundred yards away from Lakes Bay nature preserve
