July 19 (UPI) -- A stressful traffic stop became a magical moment for a Texas woman as her boyfriend turned the scary moment into an elaborate proposal.

Grapevine Police Department near Dallas shared video of the staged traffic stop that dispatcher Stephen Smith set up to propose to his girlfriend Amanda Radican on their two-year anniversary as a couple.

Officer Chad Hale pulled Radican over after Smith purposely left his cellphone at home and asked her to bring it to him so he could clock in and out of work.

"I sent her a text message from my mom's [phone]. 'Hey Stephen just called me. He needs you to bring you his phone so he can clock in and out from work,'" Smith told NBCDFW.

He then joined Hale in his patrol car as the pair tracked his phone using the "find my phone" app and falsely told Radican there were warrants on her vehicle.

"I'm like ... 'Oh my gosh this is a huge mistake. There's no way possible.' I was terrified!" Radican said.

Hale instructed Radican to step out of the car, where she began crying and tried to explain the situation after spotting Smith in the car through her tears.

"Whenever she got out of the car I could hear her start crying," Smith told WFAA. "And I was like I feel so bad for making you cry but hopefully this will make it all better. And I think it did."

Smith got down on one knee and presented Radican with a ring as he jokingly confirmed that she was a wanted person.

"339 it is confirmed. She is wanted by me," he said. "I love you. I want you to be my wife forever."

After telling Smith his stunt left her terrified, Radican ultimately accepted the elaborate proposal.

"Oh, so he got me good," she said. "He got me really good. Totally never saw that coming at all."

Smith added that while he felt bad for scaring his new fiancee, he was simply attempting to meet her request for a spectacular proposal.

"She always said she wanted it memorable," he said.

The couple plans to be wed on July 7, 2018, to keep their first date, engagement, and wedding all on the same day.
