Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe July 11 (UPI) -- A camel broke out of its enclosure to spend the afternoon at a local golf course in Australia on Monday. Northern Territory Police, Fire and Emergency Services shared a photo of the mischievous camel that escaped from a circus before being captured by authorities on the golf course. Advertisement "It appears the fine men and women of the NT Police also have hidden talents in camel wrangling after they quickly tracked it down, secured it and handed it back over to circus personnel," police said. Police Duty Superintendent Rob Burgoyne told ABC News the camel went for a brief romp through traffic before police were able to track it down. "It caused a bit of traffic mayhem for a few minutes as it ran down a few streets," he said. "It then ended up on the RAAF base golf course where circus personnel were able to secure it on the ninth green, obviously didn't quite make it to the 19th [the clubhouse bar]." Burgoyne said authorities managed to track down the camel before it caused too many problems. "No vehicles have had to crash or move out of its way or get into any trouble," he said. "It's just been an interesting event for most people as they travelled home."
