One day before the the famous hot dog-eating contest in New York, Schuyler was chowing down burgers with 13 competitors that includes men and women.
"We like to be in the spirit of 4th of July, and what's better than having a burger eating contest?" Z-Burger founder Peter Tabibian told WJLA-TV.
Schuyler has won the title three years in a row, including a record 28 burgers last year. The top-ranked competitive eater in the world also ate 429 wings in 30 minutes last year.
The winner said she was "sluggish today" but wasn't aware of a change in the contest.
"This year we made the burgers a bit bigger. [We] tried to see if she could beat her record but she didn't," said Tabibian, who offered spectators -- and competitors who wanted them -- free burgers for an hour after the contest ended.
Schuyler told WTOP-TV she plans to use her $4,000 prize to help feed her kids, whom she won't train to become competitive eaters.
"Couple of years ago, someone bet me that I couldn't eat a five pound hamburger, and I just did it for the heck of it," she said to WJLA-TV after winning. "And I found out I could make more money doing that than an actual job."
In the contest, there is a 2-minute period where competitors are disqualified if they throw up.
No one did that.
Schuyler asked for a double chocolate milkshake only a few minutes after eating the 21 burgers.
Z-Burger, which has four locations in the Washington area, is "one of the most highly acclaimed and well-known eateries in the nation," according to its website. Customers have included former President Bill Clinton.
