June 22 (UPI) -- A brave dog defended a Washington neighborhood from a bear and its cubs that were seen wandering about the area.

Resident ‎Emma Etemadi shared video of the labrador rushing toward the curious mother bear to shoo it away as it began crossing a street in the residential area.

"This bear and her two cubs has been spending time in the Hollywood Hill area of Woodinville," she said. "Our dog was surprised to see it and ran out to investigate."

The bear quickly retreated after spotting the dog running down the street and the two animals briefly locked eyes when the dog arrived on the scene.

Seemingly content with the results of its investigation, the labrador casually strolled back toward its owners while the bear continued to back away from the street.
