June 12 (UPI) -- A Michigan hospital gathered more than 1,300 people to a Lake Michigan beach to break the Guinness World Record for simultaneous sand angel making.

The event's organizer, Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital, gathered about 1,414 people on the shore of Lake Michigan at Stearns Park Beach Saturday in Ludington to break the record of 352 people making sand angels simultaneously, which was set in 2015 in Pembrokeshire, England.

Guinness adjudicators said 27 sand angels were disqualified for various reasons during the event, setting the new record at 1,387.

A video from the record attempt shows the participants spread out over 850 feet of beach and furiously flapping their arms and legs to create sand angels for 30 seconds.

Guinness world record judge Casey DeSantis certified the achievement and presented organizers with a plaque.

Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital said donations raised during the event would go toward the Be Someone's Angel fund for patient assistance.
