June 7 (UPI) -- An Ohio police department shared a photo of a driver caught transporting a horse the wrong way -- in the bed of a rusty pickup truck.

The Zanesville police department shared a photo of a horse in the back of a rusty pickup truck with wooden pallets acting as a makeshift fence to secure the tailgate.

The picture was brought to the attention of police, and an officer pulled over the pickup truck -- sans horse -- and "had a talk" with the driver, police said.

The driver told the officer he operates a hauling business and was transporting the horse for someone else.

Police advised the man not to transport anymore horses without using a proper trailer. He was informed that he must submit to commercial vehicle rules.

"He has been put on notice that anything that happens in the future is going to result in sanctions," police said.

Police have not yet located the horse to verify its well-being, the department said.
