"Operation Donut Drop! Celebrating National Donut Day a few days early with LaMar's Donuts and Coffee and The Salvation Army USA," Hancock wrote.
The doughnut shop teamed with Texas-based company Drone Dispatch and the Denver Salvation Army to fly boxes of donuts to various locations throughout the city.
Lamar's Donuts, according to KDVR, used the drone to deliver doughnuts to the Denver Police Department, a Denver Fire Department station and a mall, where shoppers were encouraged to help themselves to free doughnuts.
The Salvation Army has a claim to National Doughnut Day, saying the holiday began in 1938 at its Chicago branch.
The day is held annually on the first Friday of June.
