The 2,700-piece, $300 Lego model car features functional steering, a dual clutch gearbox, a box motor with moving pistons and a gear shift
"The challenge was now to test this small car in the normal crash system and still produce the most realistic damage possible," Johannes Heilmaier, head of the crash system at the ADAC Technikzentrum, said.
ADAC experts sent the Lego vehicle speeding along at a top speed of 28 miles per hour along a track toward a miniature wall.
Upon making impact with the wall hundreds of pieces from the model car flew off the frame, although each individual piece remained intact.
"The result was impressive and different than expected," Heilmaier said. "The chassis of the car had no problems with the high speed, and there were very little damaged stones on impact. It was almost exclusively the click connections between the components."
