Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe May 24 (UPI) -- Fire rescue crews in Florida helped pull an injured owl that was stuck in a man's backyard pool to safety. Polk County Fire Rescue shared photos of firefighters holding the owl after they received a report it had been stuck in the Bartow man's pool at about 7:30 a.m. Monday. Advertisement Capt. James Towns, engineer Darren Monk and firefighter James Parker arrived at the scene to find the owl stuck in about a foot of water with one claw tangled in a tarp. The trapped owl was unable to fly and the rescue crew made their way into the water to untangle it from the tarp. After freeing the owl, firefighters realized the owl had sustained injuries during the incident. Rescue crews contacted local animal rescue group Woodland Wonders to take in the wounded owl for rehabilitation.
