Capt. James Towns, engineer Darren Monk and firefighter James Parker arrived at the scene to find the owl stuck in about a foot of water with one claw tangled in a tarp.

The trapped owl was unable to fly and the rescue crew made their way into the water to untangle it from the tarp.

After freeing the owl, firefighters realized the owl had sustained injuries during the incident.

Rescue crews contacted local animal rescue group Woodland Wonders to take in the wounded owl for rehabilitation.
