Florida woman's 793 flamingo items earn Guinness World Record

May 23 (UPI) -- A Florida woman with 793 flamingo-related items said her collection has been officially recognized by Guinness World Records.

Cindy Dunlow, who keeps her flamingos at her custom frame shop in Ocala, said she received her certificate from Guinness after collecting 793 flamingo items, far more than the 613 collected by the previous record holder.

Dunlow said she started her collection in the 1960s while vacationing in South Florida, and it has since ballooned.

"I get flamingos every day because my customers find them and think of me," Dunlow told WKMG-TV.

Dunlow, who said her shop doubles as "The Official Florida Flamingo Museum," said the record is based on 793 items, but her collection has grown to 865 since she applied to Guinness.

"If I let it, the collection would take over the whole shop," she said. "So, I have to keep it contained to the front-quarter section."

Dunlow said she will be holding an open house at her store July 13 to celebrate her world record.
