May 17 (UPI) -- A Florida woman found an unexpected visitor in her bathroom on Tuesday night when she encountered an iguana swimming in her toilet.

The woman got up to use the bathroom in her West Kendall home when she found the two-foot long iguana resting at the bottom of her toilet bowl.

She quickly closed the toilet lid and dialed 911 for help removing the intruding reptile.

Lt. Scott Mullin, of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue's Venom One unit, was baffled after receiving the call and asked dispatchers to ensure the creature in the woman's toilet was actually an iguana and not a snake.

"This is the first time I've ever found an iguana in the toilet," he told the Miami Herald. "I have no idea how it got there."

He guessed the iguana somehow managed to crawl up the woman's pipes before finding itself trapped in the porcelain bowl.

Mullin ultimately grabbed the iguana out of the toilet with a pair of gloves and placed it in a box to transport it to a wildlife rescue center.
