May 3 (UPI) -- Fire crews in California came to the rescue of a dog that became trapped in a storm drain after falling several feet.

Sacramento Fire Department shared video of the rescue after rescuers arrived at the scene to find a dog that had fallen 15 down a loose manhole cover on Monday afternoon.

The dog's owner said his 9-month-old pit bull puppy, named Frank, ran off and fell into the hole while they were out for a walk together.

Hazmat crews ensured the area was safe and a rescuer was lowered in using a tripod and rigging.

Once inside the hole, Frank was placed in a special harness and pulled back up to safety on the surface.

The fire department said the puppy sustained "a few scrapes and bruises" but was otherwise "doing fine" and was happy to be reunited with his owner.
