April 28 (UPI) -- A pig slowed commuters on a bridge in Maryland on Friday morning after it escaped from the back of a truck.

Charles County police first reported delays due to "livestock" on the Governor Harry W. Nice Memorial Bridge at about 8:18 a.m. as traffic in one lane came to a halt.

Officials told WJLA a pig managed to get loose from a vehicle traveling on the bridge and wandered into traffic.

The Maryland Department of Transportation announced Animal Control was deployed to corral the loose pig and shared a photo of traffic being diverted around the disabled vehicle.

After about an hour the area was cleared and traffic was able to resume without delay.
