April 25 (UPI) -- Firefighters in Ohio responded to an unusual call to help free an owl that found itself tangled up in a kite string.

The Jackson Township Police Department shared video of an officer gently holding the owl's wing while attempting to cut it free.

"Today the Jackson Twp Fire department responded to North Park for a rather unusual call," police said. "Firefighters rescued this owl, that had become stuck in a kite."

A firefighter attempted to pull the kite off of the distressed owl's wing before pulling out a small knife cut the wing free.

Other firefighters could be heard warning the rescuer to be careful to not startle the owl.

"If he carries you away we're not holding you down," one joked.

After a few minutes the firefighter managed to cut the kite into pieces and removed it completely as the owl remained still with its wing extended.

The owl sustained an injury to its right wing and was taken to the Wildlife Conservation Center in Hartville for care.

The center will house the owl for several weeks to heal before releasing it back where it was found.
