April 18 (UPI) -- A rancher in Canada was stunned to find a beaver had managed to herd more than 100 of her cattle around her ranch.

Adrienne Ivey and her husband noticed 150 of her heifers crowded around the beaver in one area of her ranch in Saskatoon on Friday.

"He was out and about, I think looking for a new place to build a beaver lodge, and they were following him," Ivey told the CBC of the beaver. "There was about a three-foot space around him. They didn't want to get closer than that."

Video shows the cattle maintaining a safe distance while following behind the beaver as it wandered through the pasture.

Ivey said the young female cows, that have not given birth to any calves, are far more curious than their older counterparts.

"These young heifers are kind of like a teenager," she told CJME. "They're very curious creatures and they were just enthralled by this beaver."

Ivey and her husband were eager to share the video on social media because of the beaver's cultural status as one of Canada's national symbols.

"We just thought this was so funny and so Canadian," she said. "A Canadian beaver leading around a bunch of Canadian cattle just makes it even more funny."
