April 6 (UPI) -- Police in Sweden were relieved to find a suspicious package in a in a busy railway station was simply filled with fish.

Gothenburg police shared photos of the large, sealed package which was left unattended on a bench at the city's Central Station and made the stinky discovery upon opening it up for further investigation.

"Suspicious abandoned packages in Finland turned out not to be a bomb but 10 kilograms (22 pounds) of frozen cod," police wrote.

Police spokesman Peter Adlersson said the package was likely forgotten by an absentminded fisherman in the city known of its fishing and seafood.

"I don't know who the fish belongs to. I assume that someone has been out fishing and forgotten the parcel there. I don't know what happened with the cod after that," he said.
