April 4 (UPI) -- A pair of strange animal visitors dropped in on a courthouse in Kansas Monday morning.

The first visit occurred when a deer shattered one pane of the double-pane window in the first floor office at the Wyandotte County Courthouse in downtown Kansas City.

"Emergency management didn't prepare us for this," Register of Deeds Nancy Burns told The Kansas City Star.

No one was injured in the incident and the deer ran off, but Burns said she screamed and was scared "half to death."

Once the deer had left the area, a turkey appeared in its place and began hanging out on one of the building's ledges.

Officials said they would not disturb the turkey and would allow it to stay on the ledge until it decided to leave on its own.
