March 30 (UPI) -- A New Hampshire resident captured video of a territorial turkey giving a piece of its mind to cars it seems to have perceived as invading its space.

Karen Murphy posted a video to YouTube showing the turkey chasing and pecking at vehicles traveling on a Pelham road.

Pelham Police officer Allison Caprigno said the department received a call about a turkey attacking vehicles on the road Friday afternoon, but the bird had exited the roadway and returned to a nearby flock of about 30 turkeys by the time officers arrived.

Caprigno said police receive one or two calls each year about turkeys attacking cars.

Ted Walski, a wildlife biologist and turkey project leader for New Hampshire Fish and Game, said its mating season for the birds, which makes them more aggressive.

"They see themselves in a basement or a porch window, and they get really hot to trot," he told cable station NH1.
