Massive gators startle golfers at two South Carolina island courses

March 29 (UPI) -- Massive alligators at two different courses on the same South Carolina island shocked golfers by taking casual strolls across the fairways.

Witness Carrie Moores snapped photos of an alligator Monday as it stalked players in the Barrier Islands Free Medical Clinic's 10th Annual Celebrity Golf Invitational at The River Course on Kiawah Island.

Moores, marketing and communications specialist for the Barrier Island Free Medical Clinic, was taking photos of the oblivious golfers when the gator approached, and a second photo shows the men fleeing into their golf carts after being alerted by the photographer.

"They hopped in their carts to zoom off," Moores told ABC News.

Meanwhile, Instagram user @mayorjuan posted two videos showing another alligator walking across a fairway Monday morning at the Osprey Point Golf Course, about four miles from The River Course.

"On the range this morning at Osprey Point. Not sure what T time he had," the post said.
