March 26 (UPI) -- A Florida man was charged after videos posted to social media showed him blocking traffic by eating pancakes at a table he set up in an intersection.

The Lakeland Police Department said officers received a call about 10:50 a.m. Tuesday about a man sitting on a folding chair in a crosswalk, blocking the eastbound lanes of Memorial Boulevard and Brunnell Parkway.

The man was gone by the time police arrived, but officers later discovered video footage on social media showing the man sitting in a folding chair and eating pancakes from a TV table set up in front of his chair. Investigators said several people on Facebook identified the man as Kiaron Thomas, 21.

Thomas, who lives about 100 yards south of the intersection, admitted to eating his breakfast in the intersection "as a prank."

Thomas was charged with placing an obstruction in the roadway and disrupting the free flow of traffic. He is due in court April 25.
