March 24 (UPI) -- A clever cow turned the tables on a pursuing Texas police officer that tried to trap her in a chainlink fence.

Temple Police Department shared video of an officer tracking down a cow running loose on a sports field in his squad car.

The cow evaded the officer for a short period of time, until he managed to guide her into a gated playground area on the property.

While the officer exited his vehicle and closed the gate behind him, believing he had cornered the bovine, the cow reversed its course and charged at the officer.

The officer barely managed to avoid the speeding cow as it flung the goat open and returned to his car to continue the pursuit.

Police did not clarify whether the cow was captured, but they did poke some fun at the officer for the exhilarating encounter.

"Unknown heifer has beef with TPD," police wrote as the video caption.
