March 16 (UPI) -- A "militant" monkey at an Indonesian sanctuary stole a tourist's pack of cigarettes and ripped the smokes to shreds while a visitor filmed.

The video, filmed Thursday at the Monkey Forest Sanctuary in Ubud, shows a macaque taking cigarettes out of a pack he reportedly stole from a tourist and tearing them into pieces.

The filmer said visitors to the sanctuary are asked not to smoke, in part because of how it seems to offend the "militant" macaque.

"In the sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary visitors are requested not to smoke," the filmer wrote online. "One militant macaque takes matters into its own hands, stealing one visitors unused cigarettes and pulling them apart in front of him."
