Napping alligator found under Florida family's car

March 3 (UPI) -- Police in Florida helped remove an alligator that decided to settle in for a nap underneath a local family's car.

The Martin County Sheriff's Office shared photos officers as they arrived in the neighborhood in Indiantown, northwest of West Palm Beach, to interrupt the the 4-foot gator's nap and attempt to remove the animal.

"He wasn't going anywhere anytime soon," police said. "In fact, this four foot gator displayed a 10-foot attitude when the owner of the car he was sleeping under called the sheriff's office for assistance."

Police contacted Agricultural Detectives John Barca and Bob Smith who managed to lure the gator out from underneath the car and transport it to a nearby canal.

"He was released with just a verbal trespass warning," police said.
