Feb. 21 (UPI) -- A group of college roommates teamed up to evict a rat from their Pittsburgh home using a barricade, a mop, and a broom.

Duquesne University senior Jody Mackin posted a video to Twitter showing what happened when she and her roommates -- Logan, Briana, and Meg -- discovered a rat in their upstairs bathtub.

The video shows the roommates using buckets and a Swiffer to barricade off a path between the bathroom and the door to outside.

Logan scares the rat out of the tub, then another roommate -- standing on a bucket -- swats it down the stairs with a mop, and Logan's boyfriend, Bo, uses a broom to slap-shot the rodent out of the house.

"We came up with this ridiculous plan to get this rat out of our house and IT ACTUALLY WORKED!!!! BYE [expletive]" Mackin tweeted.

Mackin's rat extraction video quickly went viral on Twitter.

"Being known as the rat girls isn't something we're too happy about," Mackin told WCAU-TV. "But it's definitely pretty cool."

She said the group's rodent trouble wasn't quite over -- another rat was discovered in a trap the following day.

"It was the next morning and it was downstairs in the kitchen," Mackin said. "Either it was the same rat or it was a different one. We're just going to go ahead and say it was the same rat."
