Feb. 1 (UPI) -- Police in South Dakota called in some backup from a pair of horse-riding, lasso-wielding cowboys to wrangle an escaped bull that fled to a golf course.

The 800-pound bull escaped Sunday when its owner was attempting to load it into a trailer at the Central States Fairgrounds in Rapid City.

The bull went on a mad dash through town, allowing some residents to capture video of the escaped animal being chased by police cars.

The bull made its way to the Executive Golf Course, where a pair of cowboys on horses were called to lasso the bull.

"Well he, the bull, was getting pretty tired so you want to give him his distance when they get pretty tired like that." Cory Ferguson, who helped with the capture, told KOTA-TV. "We were lucky enough we had the guys from the rodeo today at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. They came down, the rodeo just ended, we had a couple mounted cowboys, Brent Sutton was able to rope him and once we did that it was pretty easy to get him in the trailer from there."

There were no injuries reported from the bull's time on the loose, but police said some grass might need repairing after being trampled by the bull and the cowboys' horses.
