Deseada's owner Mauricio Guillen told WSVN the horse was stolen in the middle of the night on Jan 18. when he allowed her to sleep outside of the barn.

"I started looking around, thinking that she ran away, but it's impossible," he said.

The horse had just given birth to a young filly named Condesa who was still nursing and will now be forced to rely on minerals and vitamins.

"[Young horses] need the mother's milk, the mother's nutrition," Guillen said. "She's doing very well, but she's missing her mother."

Deseada is microchipped for identification and the SPCA urged residents to contact them with any information regarding the horse's whereabouts.

"This is a horrible situation for any pet owner. We strongly urge the public to call with any information they have about this horse," President of South Florida SPCA horse rescue Kathleen Monahan told NBC Miami.

Guillen said the horse is worth more than $25,000, but he only hopes for her to be returned home safely.

"I just want him or her—whoever stole my horse—to release her, let her go," he said.
