Jan. 18 (UPI) -- Officials at an Israeli zoo are searching for a 17-year-old monkey that apparently escaped from his enclosure at the facility on the outskirts of Tel Aviv.

The Zoological Center Tel Aviv - Ramat Gan Safari said Conner, a 17-year-old wedge-capped capuchin monkey, apparently escaped the park this week and members of the public are being asked to keep an eye out for the small primate.

The park said Conner does not pose a danger to the public, but officials are concerned about the dangers the outside world could pose to the small primate.

The City of Tel Aviv's official Twitter account sounded the call for citizens to watch out for Conner.

"[Conner] the monkey escaped from the #TelAviv Safari! If you've seen him please call *9106. He's got a brown fur, a tail and oh HE'S A MONKEY!" the city tweeted.

Members of the public are being asked not to approach Conner, but rather to keep an eye on him from a distance and contact the zoo while being careful not to make loud noises.
