OKLAHOMA CITY, Jan. 17 (UPI) -- The Oklahoma City Fire Department shared video from the "MOOOving story" of a cow hoisted from inside a family's swimming pool.

The department said in a Facebook post the "unique rescue" started Sunday when the cow had apparently "become bored and decided to take a morning dip in a neighborhood swimming pool."

The homeowner contacted firefighters in the morning to report hearing a "snorting" sound coming from the pool while he was having his morning coffee, and firefighters arrived to find the pool liner -- "which was advertised as being able to hold an elephant" -- was torn and a cow was inside the pool.

"When firefighters arrived, they contemplated trying to get the animal out by tying a rope around its neck and assisting it," the department said. "At nearly 1500 lbs., this would not work, and the crew did not want to injure the cow in any way."

Animal control officers arrived on scene and requested assistance from a wrecker. Firefighters used fire pumps to remove about 5 feet of water from the pool to help protect the cow from hypothermia, and the wrecker's tow straps were then used to hoist the bovine to dry land.

"Once safely out, firefighters and animal control worked together to load the cow into a stock trailer for transport," the post said. "The cow should be just fine!"

Firefighters described the rescue, chronicled in a video posted to YouTube, as a "MOOOving story."
